Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ unveiled

The South Korean tech giant Samsung unveiled two highly anticipated devices part of the Note lineup at the event in New York City. These are the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+. The devices will go on sale starting from this month across the world.

Both the Samsung devices arrive in Black Sapphire, White Pearl, Gold Platinum and Silver Platinum color options. They also come in 32 GB and 64 GB of native storage space capacities.

Detailing on their specifications, both the devices boast of a 5.7 inch Quad HD 1440p Super AMOLED display, but the Galaxy edge+ features a dual edge screen that is curved on both sides. Under their hood lies a Samsung Exynos chipset that has an octa core processor with 64 bit support teamed up with 4 GB of RAM. As mentioned above, there is either 32 GB of 64 GB of native storage space in these devices that cannot be expanded further as there is no micro SD card.

The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ run on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system topped with a new version of Samsung TouchWiz UI. Both the devices feature a 16 MP main snapper at their back with optical image stabilization. Also, there is a 5 MP front facing selfie shooter onboard. The Samsung offerings are powered by a 3,000 mAh battery that can render fast charging with both wired and wireless chargers.

Connectivity wise, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are packed with a slew of features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, USB 2.0, NFC, 4G LTE with Cat.9 and Cat.6 based on the market and GPS/GLONASS. These phones also have a heart rate monitor and fingerprint scanner as well onboard.

Samsung touts that the new S Pen that comes with the Galaxy Note 5 is more solid and quite balanced when held. This way, the S Pen will render enhanced writing abilities along with a slew of tools. The S Pen comes with a click mechanism that provides an improved user experience and users can quickly note down the information or ideas even if the display is turned off. This is possible without unlocking the device.

Also, the Air Command feature is upgraded with new icon hovers to instantly access the S Pen tools from any screen whenever needed. It is possible to annotate on PDF files, capture lengthy web articles and long images via the Scroll Capture feature.

The video capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Note S6 edge+ are great. The new features include Steady Video that offers Video Digital Image Stabilities on the front and rear snappers for crisp and sharp videos. The Video Collage Mode lets users record and edit their short videos in different frames and effects.

There is support for 4K video filming as well as the new Live Broadcast feature to live stream the full HD videos from the phone to a contact, a group or YouTube directly. Those who receive the YouTube link from either of the devices can view the live stream video on their smartphones, tablets, Smart TV or PC that has YouTube connectivity.

The Galaxy S6 edge+ makes use of dual curved edge displays that provide features such as Apps edge to access the favorite apps and People edge to enable easy communication with chosen contacts.
