August 1, 2014: Samsung has officially announced the release of three of its entry-level smartphones including the Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance and Ace NXT in India in the sub Rs. 8,000 price range. Interestingly, the trio of smartphones includes Android 4.4 KitKat operating system along with the TouchWiz Essence UI. Also, the devices arrive with support for 12 Indian regional languages for a great user experience.
The Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance and Ace NXT are priced at Rs. 5,100 and Rs. 7,400 each respectively. Also, the devices will come bundled with free 200 MB of data per month for six months from Vodafone.
Detailing on specifications, the Galaxy Star 2 flaunts a 3.5 inch display that carries a resolution of 320×480 pixels and is powered by a 1 GHz single-core processor under its hood. This processor is aided by a low 512 MB of RAM that can handle basic multi-tasking. The handset is too basic with connectivity features such as 2G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1,300 mAh battery. Also, there is a pretty basic 2 MP primary snapper that lacks LED flash and there is no front-facer.
When it comes to Galaxy Star Advance, the handset is given a larger 4.3 inch LCD capacitive touch screen display that packs a WVGA resolution of 800×480 pixels. Powering the device from within is a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor supplemented by 512 MB of RAM. Other goodies onboard include a 3 MP primary camera with LED flash, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and a 1,800 mAh battery.
Lastly, the Galaxy Ace NXT is almost similar to the Galaxy Star Advance except for a 4 inch display and a 1,500 mAh battery. Storage wise, there is 4 GB of internal storage capacity in all the three smartphones and this could be expanded further with the help of a micro SD card.
