Samsung is gaining momentum in the tablet market

Samsung is one of the most popular companies in the tablet segment. It has been increasing its attention in the market with new launches frequently. 

In the latest market reports, it has been said that Samsung is the top player in the tablet market in terms of shipments. Tablet companies are able to gain a 68% increase in shipments year on year. Samsung has been able to do so because of the latest launches of Tab S8 series tablets. They are extremely popular currently in the premium segment. The premium segment mainly consists of tablets that are priced above $500.  

The higher sales of Tab S8 along with that of Tab A8 are helping Samsung is gaining momentum in India. Samsung currently accounts for 40% of the tablet segment in India currently in terms of shipments. Overall, the number of tablets being shipped to India is around 1.5 million units. 

The tablet market is increasing by 68% yearly. Specifically, 4G tablets grew 74% year on year. These increases are also due to the different offers from the companies in the tablet segment. Samsung even provides offers like Finance +. In this offer, people who don’t have any credit score can also claim EMI offers. With Samsung Upgrade, people can upgrade their old smartphone or tablet for a brand new device.

On the basis of another report by CyberMedia Research (CMR), in India, Lenovo is the leading tablet company frequently. It has a market share of 36% in terms of shipments. Samsung and Apple capture the second spot with a 22% market share. All of this is possible for companies like Lenovo because of their high marketing investment and better distribution network. 

On the other hand, the pandemic is also pushing tablet and laptop sales. Many people, including kids, are buying new devices. It is due to the increase in work from home for professionals and online classes for students.

So, all of these factors are helping in the expansion of the tablet market in India. Even Google has decided to enter the tablet market with a premium product after a gap of 7 years. The last tablet launched by Google was in the year 2015.
