The Covid-19, commonly called Coronavirus disease has a culminating effect on the life of human beings. Rare, it would be, to find a country that is untouched by the so-called crown virus or coronavirus disease. India is struggling to mitigate the deadly virus out of the scene. However, since the emergence of the second wave of virus spread, things have changed drastically. Our country has witnessed more than 2 lakhs of death and there is an acute shortage of vaccines and life support systems. Some countries around the world have extended a helping hand to our country. Many business establishments in our county are becoming more social-oriented and collectively working with the government to eliminate the infectious virus from nature and to save the lives of the people. One such appreciable initiative is Sanjeevani Pariyojana (or ‘the life project’), launched together by the government of Haryana and Deloitte.  Deloitte is the largest among the big four accounting firms and it’s headquarter are located in London.

Sanjeevani Pariyojanav (the life project) was launched in Karnal district of Haryana which is backed by Deloitte, the Public Health Foundation of India, and the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS-Haryana) is intended to provide an online authorized health care service on a real-time to people who show mild to moderate symptoms of coronavirus. Karnal is a rural district of Haryana and has around 16 lakh people as residents. The district had a positivity rate of more than 20 percent, but when the program started they witnessed a decrease in the number of infectious cases. The company’s initial assessment with the government found that 94% of the patients can be provided home care, 5% require hospitalization, and 1% in the ICU.

Deloitte has funded the program with Rs 5 crore and has set up a team of 25 members for further coordination. The company decides to expand the project to all over the state.  The program integrates government control rooms, telemedicine, online health care services, supply of home care medical devices, tiered hospitals, and ASHA workers. The project functions with the coordinated efforts of the local administration, the deputy commissioner, and the superintendent of police.

The project comprises 7 aspects which include a control center, covid-19 hotline, mobilizing 200 medical students to provide supervisory online health care services, and deploying ALS ambulance and mobile pharmacies. It also includes the provision of medical equipment like oxygen concentrators, the introduction of an awareness campaign for home care, expanding the use of the ASHA network, and developed a playbook to expand the program to other parts of the state.
