May 18, 2014: Saregama India Ltd. which owns the single largest collection of Indian audio content in 18 languages has signed a distribution deal with international digital distribution company Believe Digital to distribute its vast archive library. Speaking about this distribution tie up G. B. Aayeer, Director and CFO of Saregama was quoted as saying “Saregama has a history spanning more than acentury and is the custodian of priceless catalogue and was on alook out for a strong credible partner who would do full justice toit and Believe Digital perfectly fits the bill.” Denis Ladegaillerie, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Believe Digital was of the view that “The combination of Saregama’sleading position and unique catalogue in the Indian music industryand Believe Digital’s digital expertise and international presence creates a fantastic opportunity for artists in the fastly-growing digital space.”
Saregama has a history of more than 100 years of musical legacy and owns content of different genres including Hindustani Classical, Carnatic, Bollywood etc and Believe Digital was founded in 2005. Believe Digital has presence across Asia, Europe, US and Latin America. The company distributes music through digital music stores and other streaming platforms like iTunes, Google Music, Deezer, Amazon and Spotify. Saregama with this tie up is hoping to enter new markets internationally.
