Schaeffler India Inaugurates Consolidation and Distribution Center in Hosur

India | August 3, 2022 | L Leading industrial and automotive supplier, Schaeffler India Limited (BSE: 505790, NSE: SCHAEFFLER) today announced the inauguration of its largest Consolidation and Distribution Center (CDC) in Hosur, a part of their logistic footprint project to open four consolidation and distribution centers across all four parts of India. The center will help in moving the consolidated material from all plants to the South region, pioneering material handling and faster delivery.

The warehouse expands across 100,000 sq feet in area and is the largest external warehouse of Schaeffler in Asia Pacific region. The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with modern infrastructure and technology.

The facility was inaugurated at a function held in Hosur in presence of Harsha Kadam – CEO Schaeffler India, Sameer Mathur – COO Schaeffler India, Stefan Kinscher – Head of Supply Chain & Logistics Asia Pacific along with the leadership team of Schaeffler India.

The center is capable of running automated and digitized operations and will help us to improve material handling and facilitate faster delivery, advancing our capabilities towards our customers, true to our claim and efforts of pioneering motion. It will also improve sustainable practice in our plants by reduction in waste and material consumption through the utilization of returnable packaging.”

The distribution center is fully Wi-Fi-enabled to support wireless scanner utility and other digitized activities. Modern infrastructure offers roof insulation that helps to keep the inside temperature three-four degrees Celsius cooler than the outside temperature. There are multiple integrated safety features such as roof sprinklers, a fire hydrant system, and an automatic fire alarm in case of emergencies.

The CDC enables smooth and efficient material handling through equipment including reach trucks, electric trucks, forklift, etc. High rise rack of G+7 height has capacity of 16,000 pallet positions which caters to all Automotive, Industry, and Automotive Aftermarket products for distribution. The facility will be operated by third-party logistics (3PL) service provider.
