Skype internet telephony service to replace Windows Messenger from March 15

Jan 10, 2013: In an e-mail message, Microsoft has advised its users to update to Skype as it will be discontinuing its messenger service from March 15, 2013. Microsoft has informed in its communication that the messenger service users can update to Skype with their same account information. Microsoft acquired Skype in 2011 for USD 8.5 billion. Skype would allow the users to send messages, do video chat and make low cost or free phone calls. Skype will also allow users to connect with friends on leading social network, Facebook as well. Messenger will not be available after March 15 in all the countries except China.
