Snapdeal to expand four hour delivery to more products

The e-commerce marketplace Snapdeal provides assured delivery of specific mobile phones to the customers who placed the orders in just four hours after the purchase. Now, the company is in plans to expand this swift four-hour delivery model to other products as well. As per Ashish Chitravanshi, The Vice President of Operations at Snapdeal, they have already enhanced their deliver time by almost 70 percent since the last year. Now, they will expand the four hour delivery model to other categories apart from exclusive smartphone launches.

He stated that Snapdeal has seen 40 percent traction with its next day as well as same day assured delivery over the past six months for the mobile phone category and the FMCG category. He added that almost 99 percent of the orders that are placed on the platform are dispatched for shipment on the very same day.

The Gurgaon based firm has invested $200 million in logistics and supply chain in the last year. It has a 2 million square feet warehouse space and it fulfills 70 percent of the orders via its own warehouses in comparison to 7 percent in the month of January 2015.

The e-commerce platform, Snapdeal is hoping to delivery in a faster manner as the customers prefer quick deliveries without long waiting periods. At present, Snapdeal is doing pilot projects on the hyper local delivery model with the help of its omni channel platform known as Janus. The executive claimed that Snapdeal’s team size has witnessed a five fold increase in one year and over 1,000 executives work in the core supply chain, business intelligence, seller experience and risk management departments.

With the quick four hour delivery model expanding to the other products provided by Snapdeal, it is sure that the e-commerce marketplace will receive increased customer traction.
