Kochi/Cheruthuruthy: A night of culture, rhythm, and tradition unfolded at Kerala  Kalamandalam’s Nila Campus as the institution joined hands with South Indian Bank to  present “Kathakaliludy”: Demystifying Traditions” on New Year’s Eve. Held at the Vallathol  Smriti Mandapam, the event showcased Kerala’s rich classical heritage through captivating  performances and immersive experiences. 

The evening, which extended from 2 PM to the early hours of the New Year, offered a  confluence of Bhava, Thala, and Laya. Traditional art forms such as Kathakali, Mohiniyattam,  and Cholliyattam captivated the audience, complemented by a musical fusion led by  renowned artists Deepa Palanad and Sudeep Palanad, who presented the spellbinding  “Kathakali Mojo.” 

Adding to the sensory delight was a specially curated menu inspired by the aesthetic  principles of Kathakali, allowing attendees to savor the cultural essence beyond the stage.  The event also featured live production and exhibitions of handicrafts and fashion products,  providing a platform for artisans to showcase their craft. 

Distinguished artists from Kalamandalam and other invited stalwarts of traditional art forms  graced the Kalasandhya, enriching the experience for the audience. The program aimed to  garner public support for the sustained promotion of Kerala Kalamandalam’s artistic and  cultural initiatives. 

Among those present were Kalamandalam Vice-Chancellor Dr. B. Ananthakrishnan, Registrar  Dr. P. Rajesh Kumar, South Indian Bank representatives, curator Lakshmi Menon, program  coordinator Kesavan Narayanan, governing body member K. Raveendranath, former Vice Chancellor Dr. M.V. Narayanan, block panchayat president K.M. Ashraf, and Arun Narayanan. 

The celebration served as a reminder of Kerala’s rich artistic legacy and the importance of  preserving and promoting its traditions.
