Global apparel retailer UNIQLO today announces the launch of a special UT (UNIQLO T-shirt) collection to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the TV anime ONE PIECE, available at UNIQLO stores in Japan and through uniqlo.com from Monday, July 15. The collection to mark this notable anniversary comprises eight designs for adults that look back on the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, the main character of the series, and five designs for kids depicting popular characters. Alongside this special UT collection following Luffy’s life, UNIQLO has also concluded a global partnership with ONE PIECE DAY ’24, the world’s largest ONE PIECE fan event, to be held in August. Through T-shirts, UNIQLO will energize and enliven the event together with fans around the world.
Eight designs mapping Luffy’s adventures, and a kids’ collection featuring popular characters
This year is the 25th anniversary of the TV anime ONE PIECE. Mapping the adventures of the main character Monkey D. Luffy, the UT collection is linked by eight keywords: “Determination,” “Friends,” “Strength,” “The loss,” “Reunion,” “Alliance” “Four Emperor,” and “New Chapter.”
The eight designs depict such key moments for Luffy as his determination in the East Blue as he begins his epic adventure, vowing to become the king of the pirates; a scene in Arabasta where the crew confirm the mark of fellowship on their left forearms before the decisive battle; and a depiction of a distressed Luffy after being unable to rescue his beloved brother Ace in Marineford.
The kids’ collection features five designs with intriguing characters from the story, including TonyTony Chopper; the three brothers Ace, Sabo and Luffy; Uta; Luffy Gear Five; and the Straw Hat Crew dressed in their new Egghead outfits.
