SpiceXpress is SpiceJet’s air freight subsidiary that began its operations with a Boeing 737-700 on the Delhi-Bengaluru-Delhi route in September 2018 and Delhivery, a supply chain services provider based in India which was founded by Sahil Barua, Mohit Tandon, Bhavesh Manglani, Suraj Saharan, and Kapil Bharat in 2011. Which has the likes of Carlyle Group, Tiger Global, Fosun International, SoftBank Vision Fund, Nexus Venture Partners, Multiples, and CPP Investment Board as its prime investors have inked a letter of understanding to develop drone delivery capacity in the nation. While the Indian logistics market has been disrupted with technological advancements by Delhivery. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has shortlisted SpiceXpress as one of the major consortiums to perform drone experiments beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS).
Drone delivery is the future of logistics, and the two firms have teamed up to test drone technology to provide cutting-edge services and increase its popularity in the next few years. Emergency services, transportation of products, essential medical services, and environmental monitoring are among the commercial uses that will be evaluated. Delhivery will offer the required on-the-ground assistance to guarantee that first-mile and last-mile logistics are quick and dependable. According to SpiceXpress CEO Sanjiv Gupta, the MoU is a win-win situation for both companies, as it combines their strengths to create good synergies. “This initiative excites us because it has the potential to be a game-changer in the future.”
The partnership is a continuation of Delhivery’s long-standing connection with Spicejet, according to Ajith Pai, Chief Operating Officer. “We are excited to use our talents to transform the logistics ecosystem.” SpiceXpress is India’s largest air cargo airline, with a network that spans 54 domestic and 45 foreign destinations with a diverse fleet of 20 specialized cargo jets. It can transport approximately 600 tonnes of goods each day to a variety of domestic and international destinations. Delhivery is India’s biggest digital commerce fulfillment platform. Since its establishment, it has completed over one billion shipments throughout its countrywide network of 19,000 pin codes and 2,500 locations. Over 15,000 direct clients work with Delhivery, including big and small e-commerce participants, SMEs, and over 500 prominent businesses and brands.
