Baljit Singh Kalha has joined the executive team of the neobanking platform Stashfin as general counsel, which is a significant addition.
Kalha, who has a wealth of experience spanning more than 20 years, was Senior Partner at Titus & Co. before joining Stashfin. He was a crucial component of the Indian and international legal team working on the dispute between Italy and India involving the “Enrica Lexie” event in addition to being heavily active in the M&A practise at the renowned law firm. He has extensive experience in managing mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, and he has a particular focus on all facets of investments into India. He also advises start-ups and joint ventures on matters ranging from the negotiations that lead to their formation to situations in which the ventures must be restructured or liquidated.
At Stashfin, Kalha will offer strategic legal advice on a variety of complicated issues to top and middle management, internal business teams, and product teams (including legal, public policy, communications, and sales and marketing teams). His responsibilities will also include making strategic contributions to the business strategy, the launch of new products, the improvement of policies, compliances, and legal matters.
He holds an LL.B. from Delhi University’s CLC and is a St Stephens College of New Delhi graduate. After that, he finished his Georgetown University LL.M. programme.
We’re thrilled to have someone with such outstanding legal experience join us as General Counsel, said Tushar Aggarwal, CEO and Founder of Stashfin. Baljit will direct our regulatory engagement, collaborate with business organisations to advance ideas for policy change, and represent Stashfin in regulatory forums. We are excited to use his knowledge to assist Stashfin in exploring and assessing new business prospects.
“I have watched Stashfin grow from strength to strength as I have advised Stashfin in my capacity as external counsel for a number of years, and I am honoured to be affiliated with such a great organisation and brand,” Kalha continued. In addition to looking at corporate strategy, ethics, compliance, licences, equity and debt deals, ESOP schemes, cap table management, and prospective listing preparation, I hope to use my skills to give the leadership team with strategic counsel.
