Following the tremendous success of the first three editions of the SBI Green Marathon, the country’s largest financial services group, State Bank of India, and Mirchi, India’s leading city-centric music and entertainment company, proudly announce the conclusion of the first phase of the 4th edition of the Green Marathon on 17th March in Mumbai and Bhopal at the MMRDA Grounds and the Tatya Tope Stadium, respectively.
The SBI Green Marathon is India’s biggest eco-friendly marathon, encouraging participants to embrace a greener, fitter, and healthier lifestyle. All runners received an organic T-shirt and plant-able BIB as part of their participation. With various categories such as 5K, 10K, and 21K, the marathon catered to diverse running enthusiasts, while promoting sustainability as an essential lifestyle.
The 4-city marathon event commenced on the 17th of March 2024 in Mumbai and Bhopal and will be followed by Jaipur and Ahmedabad on the 24th of March. The first phase of the event saw a huge number of participants across the two cities. The “Run for Green” theme recognizes every participating individual as agents of change for a greener globe.
The SBI Green Marathon has consistently grown in scale and impact over the years. With the number of participants increasing each year, people’s commitment to a greener, healthier lifestyle is also proportionally rising. This initiative not only raises environmental awareness but also fosters a sense of responsibility towards the planet.

The marathon saw active on-ground support from Mirchi RJs and ambassadors from the running community, who engaged with participants and motivated them throughout the event. In addition to the organic T-shirt and plant-able BIB, participants also enjoyed cash prizes for all categories, hot breakfast, and goodie bags, making the event even more memorable.
SBI and Mirchi partnered with Skrap, a waste management agency to recycle waste generated during the event, further emphasizing their commitment to environmental conservation. The waste collected from the marathon will be recycled by Skrap, and they will release a comprehensive report on the amount of waste recycled from an event of such scale, underlining their dedication to transparency and sustainability. The collaboration also extended to social and digital platforms, with early bird coupons and city-wise creative campaigns shared through the SBI Green Marathon Instagram handle.
As the SBI Green Marathon continues its journey towards a greener and healthier India, the focus remains on capturing the Green Marathon space, promoting the IP as a year-on-year activity, and generating
