Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. declared the introduction of a special initiative ‘Sunkalp’ for the well-being of doctors, their families and the community.
Doctors have been working rigorously through the pandemic putting their lives at risk to protect society. To care and recognize for their health and welfare, on the National Doctors’ Day, Sun Pharma declared the launch of multifaceted initiatives under Sunkalp.
These initiatives will be launched in a phased manner.
- Webinars for doctors on mental well-being by experts
- Mental and physical health support for doctors & their families
- Contribution of Covid-19 medicines – phase 2
- Post Doctorate educational support – phase 2
- Educational support for children of doctors who lost their lives because of Covid-19 – phase 2
Sun Pharma has invested Rs. 100 crores towards these initiatives, which includes contribution of Covid-19 medicines to communities vastly through local & state government bodies. Doctors have been fighting the pandemic to save lives for more than a year. Long stressful working hours, maintaining distance and witnessing casualties from their beloved have become usual for them.
These factors can increase stress and exhaustion not only for them but also for their loved ones. To help them be familiar with the same, Sun Pharma has collaborated with Mann Talks to support doctors and their families with confidential psychological and emotional careby trained mental health professionals.
The CEO of India Business, Sun Pharma, Kirti Ganorkar said, “Indian healthcare experts have faced unmatched challenges during the pandemic, and their will to fight against all odds motivates us every day. Sunkalp is a tribute to these warriors for their selfless acts of kindness and sacrifice. We want to express our gratitude to them and donate to strengthening the healthcare ecosystem.”
The pandemic outbreak has reassured the need for more medical research to meet unprecedented situations. Sun Pharma will sponsor PG medical students for medical and clinical research in various fields to encourage research. Over 1000 young scholars will receive stipendsfor their research projects.
To pay tribute to doctors who have lost their lives to Covid-19, Sun Pharma is setting up an Education Fund for their kids. The company will be giving educational grants to the affected families through this fund.
The Sunkalp initiative is restricted to India.
