– The initiative is taken to increase effectiveness of teacher

November 12, 2022: The Academy School (TAS), Pune, conducts teacher training to increase the effectiveness of a teacher and the ability to develop bond with students. The training is conducted every month wherein they are trained to upgrade their knowledge and update their skills in the fast-changing landscape of education.

The primary objective of training the teachers is to ‘focus on learning not teaching’. Emphasis is placed on the fact that teachers should teach in a way that students can see, think, wonder, and build empathy and compassion as they learn.

The training was conducted taking into consideration the new National Education Policy (NEP) and Finnish teaching methods. “A blend of both will help students realise their true potential. In order to do that, the teachers’ role should be well-defined and they should be well-equipped with new methods of teaching and making learning for students easier and fun,” said Dr Maithili Tambe, CEO, TAS, who spearheaded the initiative.

The training workshop is also addressed by visiting faculties and experts from Finland and other countries to keep up with the essence of teaching and share ideas.

“By improving the quality of teaching, we shall also be improving the quality of learning. Teachers should not think or answer for the students; this loses the idea of teaching in the first place. Teaching is basically developing curiosity in the minds of students for everything that is being taught,” Dr Tambe added.

Recently, under the ‘Independent Country, Independent Me’ initiative started on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Anniversary, students were given tasks that included self-learning and encouraged independent thinking, which ultimately resulted in ‘learning by doing’.
