As the e-commerce segment in India is growing at a rapid pace, Tata Group is all geared up to jump into the e-commerce bandwagon. These days, many such companies are coming up with the launch of their own e-commerce portals or marketplaces in order to tap into the growing online and e-commerce segments. The latest one to join the life is Tata Group.
Well, Tata Group will be launching its own e-commerce portal by this month end. The online marketplace to be opened by Tata Group will be called Tata CLiQ. This marketplace will integrate the omni-channel support available at the brick and mortar stores with the online experience.
This new business will be launched by Tata Group’s new arm called Tata Unistore. Initially, it will focus on segments such as footwear, electronics, and apparel.
Detailing about the Tata CLiQ online markerplace, Ashutosh Pandey, the CEO of the e-commerce portal stated that the ‘Q’ in the logo signifies a magnifying glass. It is a visual representation of the focus of the brand on curating the best brands as well as products.
Tata Group, the salt-to-steel conglomerate has a combined sales figure of over $108.78 billion. It has a strong presence in the retail segment with its arms Trent that operates lifestyle store chains such as Landmark and Westside, Infiniti Retail that operates Croma, which is a chain of electronics store. Also, the group owns Tanishq, the jewelry company and Titan, the watch brand.
Tata Group’s entry into the e-commerce segment follows the online entry by many popular and established conglomerates. Arvind Ltd. came up with NNNow.com, its omni-channel platform last week.
Back in April, Reliance Industries came up with its online fashion retail marketplace that is called Ajio. Before six months, abof.com fashion portal was launched by Aditya Birla Group.
