After the delay, Tata Motors uncovered the compact hatchback model Tata Tiago today. Here are some things that you need to know about this new offering.
Tata Motors unveiled the sub 4m sedan Kite 5 at the Auto Expo 2016. Basically, it is a Tata Tiago with a boot. The vehicle is expected to be launched in the market some time later this year. In that case, it will be the third sub 4m sedan that to come from the manufacturer.
The Tata Tiago comes with two different engine options. One is a 1.2 liter Revotron three cylinder petrol engine that can render 114 Nm torque and 85 PS power. The other one is a Revotorq 1.05 liter three cylinder diesel engine that renders 140 Nm torque and 70 PS power. Both the engines of the Tata Tiago are new and they are likely to be featured in the future models as well. The only option of the transmission system is a five speed manual one at the launch. At the time of launch, the Tiago will not feature AMT, but it will be an option that will be introduced later.
The high end grade of the Tata Tiago will be available with an impressive list of features including a ConnectNext infotainment system that is exclusively developed by HARMAN. There will be other aspects such as an eight speaker audio system, Aux-In support, USB, ABS, steering mounted audio controls, dual front airbags, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and height adjustable driver seat.
The bookings for the Tiago are already open since March 10 and the initial booking amount is Rs 10,000. For now, Tata has not revealed the specific number of pre-orders that the Tiago has received. Maybe, the company might reveal the same at the launch event of the compact hatchback model.
