Mumbai, 30th March 2023: To identify, nurture and promote emerging talent in the textile design industry, the Incubation Cell at TCNS Clothing in collaboration with NIFT organized a textile design workshop INC.TEX at Le Meridian, Gurgaon. This one-of-its-kind initiative provided an exclusive opportunity to 25 talented students from the country’s renowned fashion institute to learn from experienced industry professionals and bring their ideas and innovative concepts to the fore.
During the INC.TEX workshop, the students were required to conceptualise and create a print design for women-wear and write a ‘Statement’ for their work in the daylong event. An interesting mix of unusual material was provided for them to experiment with.
Talking about the initiative, Anant Daga, MD, TCNS Clothing Co. Taking this thought a step further, The Incubation Cell at TCNS has offered this unique opportunity to bring together students’ visionary ideas to the fore. We aim to stir up excitement amidst the students and acquire the best talent through INC.TEX as TCNS believes in giving a similar atmosphere of growth and learning in the organisation. Our collaboration with NIFT will provide a unique platform to the next generation of creatives and will act as a stepping stone for trailblazers in the Apparel Retail Industry.”
Speaking about the workshop, Prof. Dr. Sudha Dhingra, DEAN, NIFT, added, “Workshops like these help students to be better prepared for the industry, and enhance synergy between them and the industry. It is exciting to see the distinct narratives created by students while developing their innovative and conceptual designs building. I would like to thank TCNS Clothing for providing this wonderful opportunity to the students. It should be established as a regular prestigious award for the students to look forward to and participating in this would enhance their learning experiences and provide motivation for excellence.”
The workshop witnessed students demonstrating their skills and ideas in conceptualizing print design/ ‘Maquette’ for womenswear during the event. During this, experienced professionals from TCNS encouraged them to come up with distinct narratives while developing their innovative and conceptual designs. The collaboration between students and professionals helped participants acquire valuable insights and resulted in a better exchange of ideas and perspectives.
Students were felicitated by Mr Anant Daga – MD, TCNS clothing, Dr. Sudha Dhingra – DEAN, NIFT in the presence of Prof. Savita Rana – Textile Design NIFT Delhi, Sreyashee Halder – Head of Design & Pallavi Vatsa – Head HR, TCNS clothing in an Award Ceremony. The exemplary performances were recognized during an award ceremony that also marked the successful end of the day-long event. Students from NIFT- Anushka Nayan and Om Chaudhari won the top two awards and Jivitesh Mundari and Priya Soni were awarded an internship at TCNS.
