Tech bosses are paving way for Narendra Modi as he becomes the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Facebook headquarters, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook and Teslamotors CEO Elon Musk. VivekWadhwa fellow, Arthur & Toni Rembe Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford University said that these tech bosses were bowing down to Modi when he visited Silicon valley which no other world leaders received when they had made visits.
He proposed that within three to four years the scenario changes as Facebook Drone projects starts, Google Loon works and SpaceX and One Web makes their micro satellites working by which they can start blanketing the earth with Wi-Fi. He also warned that the telecom companies will be in trouble if Google and Facebook succeed in their ambitious project which is to provide internet access all over the world. He added the fact that in the next three to four years India will add about half a billion users to the Internet and become the largest growth market in Internet usage and set aside America’s dot-com boom. According to the statistics by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) the Internet user base in India grew to 300 million in 2014, which was 32 per cent more when compared to previous years. IAMAI estimates that India will have nearly 500 million Internet users by 2017.
The tech industry of India has also learned a lot from their mistakes which was made by taxi-hailing company Uber and they wanted to be assured that the governments don’t turn in adversaries when traditional industries are disrupted. Wadhwa also criticized the academics as they issued a cautionary letter to Silicon Valley on Modi’s visit by emphasizing the fact that for people who owe to be future thinkers should realize that Modi is their best hope.
