Muradabad: Mr Alok Lal, National Security Officer for Microsoft in India and South Asia, inaugurated the Center of Excellence in Cyber Security and Blockchain Technologies at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Muradabad. The event was attended by dignitaries including Mr Kallol Sil, Co-Founder and CEO of Vizhack Technologies, Mr Sovik Sarkar, Head of Partnerships and Alliances at UAR Services Limited, and Dr Rachit Agrawal, CEO of UAR Services Limited, along with TMU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raghuvir Singh, Registrar Dr Aditya Sharma, and Dean of Academics Prof. Manjula Jain, among others.

Mr Alok Lal expressed concerns about the increasing prevalence of cyberattacks globally, emphasizing the need for cybersecurity knowledge among the youth. He mentioned that by 2025, the cybersecurity sector is expected to create 3.5 million jobs, making it a significant opportunity for the country.

Mr Lal highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in the modern world, stating that the battle is no longer fought with traditional weapons but against cyber threats. He stressed the need for institutions like TMU to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to defend against cyberattacks.

Mr. Kallol Sil, Co-Founder and CEO of Vizhack Technologies, discussed the role of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in enhancing cybersecurity. He emphasized that cybersecurity is critical for the nation’s security and offers extensive job opportunities. Mr Sil mentioned Vizhack Technologies’ involvement in the field and its contribution to this initiative.

Prof. Raghuvir Singh, Vice-Chancellor of TMU, stressed the significance of understanding and utilising values, knowledge, and context to succeed in cybersecurity. He highlighted the role of TMU in providing courses in blockchain technology and cybersecurity.

Dr. Aditya Sharma, Registrar of TMU, recognized the need for cybersecurity in the current technological era. He expressed pride in TMU becoming the first private university in Uttar Pradesh to establish a Cyber Unit.

Prof. Vipin Jain, Director of TMU, mentioned that the collaboration with experts from companies like Microsoft would offer students the opportunity to receive practical training and engage in live projects. He also spoke about the plans for providing cybersecurity training to government officials in line with their preferences.

The Center of Excellence will organize hackathons, workshops, and national and international conferences. It will also offer foundation and advanced courses in the field. TMU’s faculty and the IT heads of the Audi and TMU campuses participated in the event.

In conclusion, the inauguration of the Center of Excellence in Cyber Security and Blockchain Technologies at TMU marks a significant step toward preparing the youth for the challenges of the digital age. It is expected to empower students with the necessary skills and knowledge to defend against cyber threats and contribute to the growing field of cybersecurity.
