In 2017, the BMW X2 was launched and its been three years so the X2 is due for a facelift. And we’re going to witness one soon, most probably early next year, or by the end of this year. A styling update and updated technologies will be provided to the vehicle, mirroring the current improvements made to the BMW X1. As is the case for several midlife changes, much of the bodywork of the X2 will remain unchanged, but a series of modifications will allow the customers to spot the new model.
The front grilles are much wider than the current model, and there will be a different form for the LED daytime running lights. Just below the headlights, the circular fog lamps will go, these are all markings on this development car, and LED fog lights are likely to be built into the lower air intakes.
The important concern inside is that for the first time, the iDrive infotainment device will possibly feature touchscreen functionality. In addition, BMW is believed to restrict all improvements to new options for upholstery and hardware, although there is a chance that more safety equipment and driver assistance will be accessible.
BMW will launch a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant called the X2 xDrive25e in the next couple of months, which will continue to be available in the facelifted variant. The X2 will be pretty fast using a 123bhp petrol engine, a 94bhp electric motor, and a 10kWh battery: it will take 6.8 seconds to accelerate from 0-100kmph. BMW cites a 56 km electric-only range in the X1 xDrive25e, and the X2 will show identical estimates.
In addition to the latest plug-in hybrid variant, it is likely that to boost reliability and performance, the engine set will receive minor upgrades. The X2 shares its engine set with the BMW 1-Series, but since the X2 is a little bigger, the economy isn’t quite as strong. Versions with all-wheel-drive get an xDrive sticker, while models of front-wheel-drive are called sDrive.
BMW also unveiled its X2 SUV’s M Mesh Version, which comes along with a vibrant body livery, paddle shifters, and seats with enhanced lateral assistance. They said it was aiming to target millennial viewers with this one. The car conforms to the M Sport X spec and features a radiator grille in Gloss Black, bright rim accents, sporty body graphics, and interior details in brown.
