Vodafone and Idea, which are the two brands of Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) have rebranded as “Vi” (read as “We”) on Monday, and with this new brand identity, the two distinct brands will fade away.

Vodafone and Idea came together and merged as an entity on 31st August 2018. The entity since has been focusing on integrating the two large networks, the people and processes. The brand integration resulted in the largest telecom merger in the world, as well as providing digital experiences to the customers of both the companies in the 4G network.
VIL has transformed into a future-fit digital network for changing customer needs by deploying the many principals of 5G architecture. According to Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, who is the chairman of Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Idea Limited, the new brand Vi is committed to partner the government to accelerate India`s progression towards a digital economy and enabling millions of citizens to connect to the digital revolution and build a better tomorrow.
According to Mr. Nick Read, who is the CEO of Vodafone Group Plc, the unified brand Vi is an important step in launching the unified business of Vodafone Idea Limited. The completion of the integration of the two businesses marks a new beginning for the company. Vi combines the strengths of both Vodafone India and Idea to deliver superior network experience, better customer service, and leading products and services to its citizens and businesses.
The rebranding has helped the company to build the network based on 5G architecture, hence providing a faster network that is future-fit.
The recent board approval to raise 25,000 crores by the company is sufficient to meet the future capital requirements of the company and to meet its business plan. The CEO and Managing Director of Vodafone Idea Limited, Mr. Ravinder Takkar, who was appointed for three years starting from August 2019, will get nil remuneration for the services offered to the company. As per the Supreme Court order, the first installment of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues is scheduled in March 2022.
