The Right IA For Your Business

Automation and the likes are conquering our everyday lives as well as enriching our otherwise technologically- bland vocabulary. ‘Intelligent Automation’  (IA) has become the center of digital transformation. IA is simply a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotic process automation (RPA).  IA is best known for its ability for rapid end-to-end automation of business processes wherein RPA allows businesses to delegate and execute tasks with the machine learning and analytics capabilities of automatic process discovery.

IA  is the new automation ‘dream’ – the complete automation journey, discovery, automation, optimization, automation of any front or back-office business functions, and facilitating work across the human-bot teams. However, Intelligent Automation’s real effectiveness can only be realized when it empowers business leaders to digitally amp up the work across all the sectors of the office.

There has been hype and a certain amount of confusion about the selection of vendors offering RPA and AI that will mask its ability to deliver results. Thus, when selecting a vendor, it is vital to be clear and well-informed about the program’s actual capabilities as well as expected ones.

Comparing Capabilities

There are some clear-cut differences between the capabilities of RPA and intelligent automation offered by a vendor’s software. As per the business requirements such as short-term tactical benefits with great effort and risk or strategic work transformation with less effort and minimal risk, the software has to be chosen. In these two scenarios the functions are performed by two different bots :

  • a highly advanced software robot with an inbuilt capability to operate with an IT department
  • a software robot for running scripts and activities against other software pieces which work well for basic task automation

Measuring Effort

The main advantage of employing an IA solution is the rapid rate at which a business can cater to dynamic market demands without the additional effort of building a bot to come up with new work. An IA program automates this new work using an intuitive operative system. If a business chooses the wrong vendor, that program will be supported by code-heavy deployments. This will be directed to the IT queue for extensive debugging work to meet the new market demands.

The Collaborative Potential

Having the option to deploy robots wherever they are needed to do collaborative work is the best method to measure the value of work from an intelligent automation program. Therefore, ask the vendor if their program allows this.  A limitation in a broad perspective is that in some cases if any automation technology is set up across desktops are used in a single-person context, it may help the person to empower the work and not the business.

Accountability Capabilities

A company should always choose a vendor that provides an OS, allowing audit trails of the automated processes so as to ensure transparency within all automation processes.

The fourth industrial revolution has indeed and still is creating ripples across all sectors thereby affecting our daily lives too. Therefore, it is crucial to make the right choice when considering an intelligent automated technology vendor. There are high chances that it will limit the potential of a business to make a mark in the industry and also increase the risk of digital chaos. IA is the next upcoming ‘overpowering’ technology though not entirely without glitches that we are yet to see.
