One of the most used applications, Uber has transformed its verb into its brand name. it has evolved its name into may sector out of which it has a majority stake over its cab service that it tends to provide in different nations. One of the best starts ups that were founded in Silicon Valley, often referred to as the Silicon Valley startup is now about to be a unicorn company. The value that Uber stands in the market currently is more than 44 billion $ with its operation expanding to 72 countries and adding to it.

However, in recent news Uber is making headlines by crediting the reason for the rapid expansion that it has created in several years by bypassing the regulations that are being made by the government of the respective nations. It has also bypassed and lobbied lawmakers by playing with the existing loopholes that prevail around the regulations and laws that are being created by the government of any nation. These points were shared by The Guardian in a consorted investigation done by the Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) that has appropriately leaked a report termed “Uber Files” which includes a confidential term of 124000 internal emails, text messages, and documents related to the above matter.

The above report showed the leaks that were timeline between 2013 to 2017, wherein Uber reported a series of mistakes that it did with its customers as well as the government. In context to India, one of the files reported the flawed system that Uber tried to blame upon the Government of India when an Uber driver raped a 25-year-old woman in New Delhi in December 2014.

One of the documents also says that Uber had reportedly killed the switch between the customers and the regular taxi drivers just to increase its business model of its for achieving its organizational goal. The meaning of Kill Switch also tells that Uber Technologies has regularly dodged the raids and investigations that were scheduled to be done on them by shutting down the internal software of their main line database. This has also been reported in other countries such as U.S.A. and Dubai wherein Uber operates freely with access to customers’ free hand data.

Lastly, Uber reacted to this coverage by The Indian Express and responded that “they have admitted for their missteps and mistakes that they have committed in the past which granted them immense popularity and profit from the same.”
