‘You never get a second chance to make a first impression’. The phrase is apt in case of newly launched products in trade fairs, where the buyer and seller mostly meet for the very first time. These critical first moments can either build up a mutually profitable relationship or it can affect business in adverse way.

Trade shows are often organized for companies of a specific/multiple industry to showcase their latest products. Creating an impression in the minds of potential customers (during trade shows) is critical for brands to position themselves in business. To create a positive rapport with customers, business must often take care of certain aspects.

Be in Time

Be punctual and early to stall to make necessary arrangements. Booth must be well stocked with promotional gifts, business cards, and cross selling products, if any.

Ensure adequate availability of staff

Stall should be adequately staffed till closing hours. Professionals concerned with monitoring the stall must compensate with other staffs, if they take turns for breaks.

Proper greeting of visitors

Always welcome visitors with a positive attitude, since they may turn as future clients. Non-verbal communication is very crucial in creating first impressions. Business staff’s body language must convey the fact that, they really want to engage with customers. Try to build up a good relation with these clients by collecting business cards or contacting through email.

Trade media

Try to contact industry specific publications or other media and brief on your unique products in trade show. Also arrange press releases, if possible.

Healthy Relationship with competitors

Try to keep a standard and healthy relation with competitors, present in booth. Speak gently and avoid soliciting business from attendees to keep you unique within the industry.

Other than this, staff’s wear business casual teamed with a blazer or logo shirts. This can attract the attention of public. This will also highlight company’s identity in the trade show.
