May 12, 2014: In a bid to take the competition head on in the new cross hatchback segment, Toyota announced the launch of its new cross hatchback, the Etios Cross. Aimed at the young and adventurous, Etios Cross is priced between Rs.5.76- 7.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new cross hatchback from Toyota with a spunky exterior styling would be available in two petrol and one diesel engine.
Recently the cross hatchback segment has seen a quite a few launches and Toyota Etios Cross would be competing against the Vokswagen Cross Polo and the new Skoda Fabia Scout. Other players like Fiat and Maruti are also going to launch their own cross hatchback as well. Fiat would be launching Avventura and Maruti Suzuki will be coming out with its S-Cross which will be based on the SX4 platform.
The new Toyota Etios Cross which has got a impressive interior design is powered by a 1.2 litre and 1.5 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine. The 1.2 litre petrol engine Etios Cross which would be churning out 80PS of peak power and 104 Nm of torque would be available at Rs.5.76 lakhs. The 1.5 litre, 4- cylinder petrol Etios Cross has got 90 Ps of peak power and 132 Nm of torque. This model is priced at Rs.7.35 lakhs. The diesel variant of Etios Cross would be powered by the popular D-4D, 1.4 litre turbo charged diesel engine. This model which is available in two trim levels is priced between Rs.6.9 -7.45 lakhs and generates 68 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque.
The Toyota Etios cross and got a 15 inch alloy wheels and because of its bold exteriors gives it a bulkier and tougher look. The aggressive look of Etios Cross is definitely going to turn some heads on as it travels through the nook and corner of town.
