Toyota Vios Indian variant makes presence at Thai Motor Expo

At the Thailand Motor Expo 2015, the Toyota Vios is showcased in the TRD Sportivo guise. This car is reported to be launched in India in the next year. The sedan from Toyota has already been reported to be under testing in the country, especially near Bangalore where a production facility of Toyota is located.

The Toyota Vios sedan is likely to be priced around Rs 10 lakh and positioned in the C-segment in the country. It is will be rivaling the likes of the best selling sedans such as Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, and Honda City.

The Toyota sedan will be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine or a 1.4 litre diesel engine. In Thailand, the Vios’ petrol version is capable of rendering a maximum torque of 141 Nm at 4,200 rpm and a maximum power of 109 PS or 107.5 bhp at 6,000 rpm. It is provided with a 4 speed automatic transmission system that is a standard option.

Being the entry level sedan in the Thailand automobile market, the Toyota Vios will be positioned over the Etios in the Indian market from the same manufacturer. The Vios will be targeted towards the families looking for offerings in the personal car sector. On the other hand, the Toyota Etios will continue to cater to the needs of the commercial segment to a large extent.

The Toyota Vios is relatively larger than the Etios and it carries measurements of 4,410 mm in length, 1,475 mm in height and 1,700 mm in width. When it comes to the salient features of the Toyota Vios sedan, there is a smart entry system, projector headlamps, a push start system, automatic climate control, an Eco meter, ABS, an immobilizer, a Theft Deterrent System, and dual airbags that make the vehicle a great one in terms of its features.
