National, 03rd April, 2023: redRail, the train ticketing app by redBus, India’s largest intercity bus ticketing application, has launched its iOS app, enabling iPhone users to book train tickets anytime, anywhere. The new iOS app is lite and complements the existing train ticketing experience available on the redBus iOS app by improving user experience in non-metro regions or in places with limited internet bandwidth. The redRail Android app was launched in early 2022 and has already helped 1.3 million train travellers undertake seamless bookings.
redRail by redBus is a lite-app that was initially designed to operate across the entire range of Android smartphone devices, particularly, entry-level phones, those with low memory configurations, those running on older software versions, as well as in regions with low internet bandwidth in rural India. As such, it makes train ticket booking on mobile phones across India, hassle-free, by immensely improving user experience, from identifying trains, to reservations and payments, supported by UPI, net banking, credit & debit cards. This service is now being extended to the growing base of iPhone users in India with the recent launch on the iOS app store. According to industry estimates, India is poised to have a billion smartphone users by 2026, with a strong growth in the user base of both Android as well as Apple smartphones.

Users can book these seats instantly and board / alight at their desired stations with a route extension. This helps them to book confirmed seats on an otherwise waitlisted train. According to an estimate, about 1.6 crore waitlisted passengers are unable to travel each year by trains due to the waitlist not getting confirmed. redRail Confirm will aid such passengers book confirmed seats through the use of advanced algorithms to identify available confirmed seats on other trains plying on the same route, at no additional cost.
