TREAD, a Bengaluru-based connected fitness start-up that recently introduced a smart fitness-bike, has been bought by cult.fit, India’s biggest comprehensive fitness and wellness platform. The purchase will aid in the introduction of cult.fit’s hardware-at-home business sector.

Following the advent of digital at-home exercise on cult.fit’s app last year, the site has experienced a significant increase in live workout classes. cult.fit is releasing a series of smart fitness gear items to enhance the experience even further.

TREAD’s purchase is the first step toward the launch of a portfolio of products, including TREAD smart bikes, benches, and other items. Cult.fit’s deeper foray into the connected fitness devices industry propels the firm even closer to its goal of becoming India’s fitness leader.

TREAD, which will continue to operate independently, has created a smart indoor linked workout bike that is comparable to Peloton but costs one-third less. This cost-effective offering for India will include a variety of social elements such as live exercises, leaderboards, and the ability to compete with friends. Users can compete in virtual tournaments and compete against one another. They may also take picturesque trips in their favourite virtual destinations, such as the beach in Hawaii or the Promenade of the French Riviera.

Customers will have an interesting experience thanks to TREAD’s hardware IP combined with cult.fit’s digital content and computer vision technology. TREAD will also benefit from Cult.fit’s assistance with technology, consumer outreach, and offline distribution.

“We are delighted to welcome TREAD and its team to the cult.fit family. The connected fitness industry is growing globally, and we’re devoted to provide our Indian consumers with the most cutting-edge technology. We will soon provide a wide choice of home exercise equipment to better suit the need for at-home exercises.”, Shamik Sharma, Head of Digital Health at cult.fit, stated.

“We are thrilled to be a part of cult.fit since we share the same goal of making exercise pleasurable and simple. We will be able to greatly expedite product development and reach a larger number of clients thanks to cult.fit. We’re releasing a line of linked fitness cardio and strength equipment”, TREAD Founder Dinesh Godara stated.

“The TREAD One, a smart indoor exercise bike, is our first product, and it will be followed by digital weight and resistance products, as well as smart home gym packages. We’ve already gotten a lot of interest, with hundreds of people placing pre-orders,” Godara added.

Dinesh Godara, the creator of ed-tech firm Wifistudy, which was bought by Unacademy in 2018, created TREAD in 2020.
