UMANG app sees a 180 % jump in use, 11.27 lakh asserts between April and July 2020: EPFO

According to the government’s unified Mobile App for New-Age Governance (UMANG), the retirement fund organization Employees Provident Fund Organization, the April-July pandemic saw 180 percent of usage growth, which helped its subscribers access 16 different services.

UMANG is the go-to device for people to make use of almost 600 public services, or the Single Web Application to Governance New-Ege. The mobile app has been created for the Digital India and mobile governance of the country through the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology and the National e Governance Division. The application is available in ten non-English and Urdu languages.

The user interface of UMANG is clean and easy to use and is available for free on Android , iOS or Windows. Users must register with the app using their mobile number and a one-time password once they have been downloaded.  Can create a profile after logging in. The application requires an MPIN to protect accounts against unauthorized access. They can also connect to your social media accounts such as Google , Facebook and Twitter.

The total of 11,27 EPFO claims submitted online through UMANG during the COVID-19 pandemic timeframe from April until July 2020. The increase was 180% compared to the pre-Covid 19 period from December 2019 to March 2020, in which only 3,97 lakh claims were submitted via the application, the EPFO said on Monday in a declaration.

Presently a PF member has a UAN number, and its mobile number is registered with an EPFO, which allows them to access 16 different EPFO services on their mobile phones with the UMANG App. These include the raising of claims, the tracking of claims and the status of the raised claim.

“UMANG made it possible for members to break through the COVID-19 pandemic mobility limit in accessing EPFO services, reducing the need for physical visiting of EPFO offices” it said.

The statement showed that UMANG App members had the most popular service with their passbooks, pensioners’ passbooks, Jeevan Pramaan Patra service updates, UAN activations, and eKYC services.

“In the process, EPFO has become UMANG ‘s largest organization with over 90 percent of the app’s footfall,” is been claimed by them.
