Jan 14, 2013: Uninor a Joint Venture between Telenor and Unitech which has been consolidating its position in the Indian market has come out with a ‘differential commission management’ system whereby it will be offering higher incentives and commission to retailers and distributors. The new commission management system will be based on incentive points which dealers will earn by selling recharge coupons and SIM cards. This move comes at time when most of the cellular operators are not doing well and ARPU is coming down. Most of the operators had cut down the commission of retailers and distributors in 2011 and the commission had been brought down to 3.5% from 3.8%. The differential commission management system is a part of the strategy of Uninor to increase their market presence, the assumption being that when distributors are given more incentive they will be pushing more of Uninor products.
