November 11, 2022: Audible, a leading producer and provider of spoken-word entertainment and audiobooks, recently launched its new Original podcast series titled ‘Upgrade Soul‘.
Written exclusively by popular science fiction graphic novelist and author Ezra Claytan Daniels, this five-episode series is narrated by Wendell Pierce (Suits, Jack Ryan), Marcia Gay Harden (Uncoupled, So He Told Me), Phil LaMarr (Futurama, Samurai Jack), Abi Monterey (Doom Patrol, The Curse of Bridge Hollow), David Dastmalchian (Suicide Squad, Dune), and Lorena Diaz (Chicago Med, Mom and Dad), along with a full cast.
An adaptation of the critically-acclaimed, award-winning 2018 Sci-Fi graphic novel ‘Upgrade Soul’, the audio series brings across the story of two wealthy science buffs, Hank and Molly Nonnar. The series explores key themes around trans-humanism, horror, suspense, moral and ethical dilemmas, love, and betrayal.
With Hank and Molly growing old, the couple wants to try out a new procedure called Upgrade Cell, a novel gene therapy to increase its recipients’ lifespan and enhance their intelligence. However, the procedure goes wrong, turning them into severely disfigured, though intellectually and physically superior clones of themselves instead of younger and healthier versions as expected in this Sci-Fi tale of experimentation and much more. Are the newer, better versions of Hank and Molly still them? Or something far worse?
