Viacom18, the TATA Indian Premier League’s digital rights holder, launched the JioCinema CricStream Showcase, previewing what consumers and advertisers can expect for the upcoming season. The exhibition, which was spread across multiple zones, provided brands and industry leaders with an early look at the innovations available on JioCinema for both advertisers and consumers. Consumers in India are increasingly embracing the convenience and improved viewing experience offered by digital platforms, resulting in a tectonic shift in content consumption. Not only is there a shift in consumer behaviour, but digital is quickly becoming a key channel for customer acquisition, engagement, conversion, and retention for brands. The ever-increasing adoption of Connected TV strengthens the digital growth narrative (CTV). With the medium’s flexibility, ease of search options, and content variety, a significant number of HD homes are in the process of transitioning to CTV. The current base of 750+ million internet users in India, as well as the growing penetration of 5G, will be critical in displaying TATA IPL anywhere, at any time. Our goal for this season’s TATA Indian Premier League on JioCinema is to make it the largest sporting spectacle in the world. “Our proposal is rooted in efforts to remove barriers for viewers such as accessibility, affordability, and language in order to increase the league’s impact for advertisers and consumers alike”, was according to a Viacom18 spokesperson. “The JioCinema CricStream Showcase exemplifies how we intend to move the needle and achieve this. The exhibition is a prelude to the spectacular viewing experience that consumers will have during the TATA IPL, as well as the endless opportunities that a brand and advertiser will have on our platform”, according to a Viacom18 spokesperson. During the TATA IPL, the exhibition highlights JioCinema’s top offerings for consumers, such as 4K feed, multi-language and multi-cam demonstration, interactive content via stats pack, and Play Along feature. It also has a dedicated zone for offline activations scheduled to engage with cricket-loving societies in the country’s most remote areas. The most distinctive offering is the Jio Immersive Zone that also allows everyone to experience the TATA IPL via a 360-degree VR feed via JioDive.
