Mumbai: Victory CC won the 7th Edition of the Bhaskar Thakur Memorial Under-12 cricket Tournament organised by Sind Sports Club that was organised in Mumbai on Thursday at PJ Hindu Gymkhana. The finals match was played between Dashing SC and Victory CC at the Hindu Gymkhana.
Victory CC, while batting first, scored 182/3 in 35 overs. The chasing team, Dashing SC, fell short by 20 runs as they got all out for 162 in 34.1 overs.
Ajinkya Naik, Secretary, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), said the tournament went on very well. “The tournament is a great platform for budding players to showcase their cricketing talent. The number of players and teams played is a testament to the high quality of players and a bright future for Mumbai cricket,” Naik added.
Lalchand Rajput, Chairman of the Cricket Improvement Committee, MCA, said, “The tournament’s tagline should be ‘catch them young’.”
This year, as many as 94 teams played in the 7th edition. While over 1,500 players registered for the tourney, 1,250 players played for their respective teams. All the players belonged to the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region of MCA jurisdiction.
