Get comfortable — with longer runs, faster paces and pushing your limits.
That’s the invitation Nike extends to all runners with the introduction of its Vomero 18, the new standard in maximum cushioning and road running comfort.
Informed by the needs and detailed insights of women runners to suit all genders, this best-in-class silhouette is an expression of smoothness and softness, providing a comfort-first experience with a lightweight feel.
The new Vomero features a combination of ZoomX foam through the length of the shoe and ReactX in the heel and forefoot, providing runners with double-stacked cushion for the ultimate ride. With balanced foam stacks providing more cushion than ever, the silhouette also offers an increased stack height of 46mm, 6mm taller than the previous Vomero and the tallest ever in the Vomero line.
Maximum cushioning is the go-to feel for everyday runs, and this comfortable, plush ride serves a variety of athletes: from new runners looking to lace up for the first time, to experienced runners who want to increase their mileage or start their post-race recovery, and anyone looking for all-day comfort.
“We heard from runners that when they think of maximum cushioning, they envision a soft, plush experience that alleviates feeling the impact of the ground underfoot. We obsessed the details to give the running community that sensation with best-in-class design and technology,” says Ashley Campbell, Running Footwear Product Line Manager. “That ethos is apparent throughout the Vomero 18, a shoe purpose-built to give every runner — from the everyday to the elite — the ultra-comfortable ride that is both supportive and easy on the body, and equips runners to achieve their goals.”
The Vomero’s sole is made of a durable rubber, providing traction for high mileage, and its upward curve features increased rocker geometry, providing runners a smoother heel to toe transition. The upper features soft, stretchy engineered mesh that offers breathability around the toe and tongue.
In addition to its functional versatility, the Vomero 18 also demands to be noticed. Simultaneously bold and soft, the silhouette stands out from the pack with design cues that accentuate every run and everyday life. For example, the Vomero’s heel lift signals movement and is where runners experience the maximum cushion in each step. The curvy form is aesthetically beautiful and provides greater continuity throughout every run, and the material textures complement and juxtapose each other, creating a dynamic visual.
Designed with women’s style preferences in mind, an effervescent mix of colorways allows runners to express their individuality, with the lead “Atmosphere Pink” option symbolizing the illuminating joy a runner feels on a long run and a color pattern and accents that punctuate the shoe’s elevated look and feel.
Nike is also extending the comfort, style and modern design of the Vomero 18 to its kids’ running lineup, offering the next generation of runners ReactX foam for the first time, along with the highest stack height among Nike kids’ running shoes.
The Vomero franchise is one of three distinct categories that comprise Nike’s simplified Road Running Footwear Lineup, which is based on trusted icons and dedicated to what runners love most: cushioning.
The Vomero 18 reflects a new era of maximum cushioning for ultimate comfort, while the Pegasus franchise delivers responsive cushioning for all-day energy return and the Structure franchise offers supportive cushioning for a stable ride.
The new lineup offers runners their preferred type of cushioned ride for whatever run they want to take. It also makes it easier for runners to determine what footwear offers them the right mix of benefits, technology and price point, providing a more inviting and accessible experience — especially for runners gearing up for the first time or adding a new shoe to their rotation.
“We heard from runners that they desire a more intuitive experience in selecting their running footwear. So we’ve simplified our Road Running Footwear Lineup to obsessively focus on the timeless need for cushioning,” says Marian Dougherty, Senior Director, Global Running Footwear. “Based on icon franchises, the new lineup helps guide runners to the right ride for them — whether it’s highly responsive, maximum cushioning or a supportive ride.”
The Vomero 18 will be available globally at nike.com and select retailers February 27, 2025.
