The Walt Disney Company has been included in Fortune’s annual list of the “World’s Most Admired Companies,” which was announced online and in the magazine’s February/March issue. Disney was placed No. 5 overall, and it was the top-ranked media and entertainment firm for the 19th consecutive year.

Disney received high grades in several areas, including:

  • Innovation
  • People Management
  • Corporate Asset Usage
  • Social Responsibility
  • Managerial Quality
  • Financial Soundness
  • Long-term Investment Value
  • Product/Service Quality and
  • Global Competitiveness.

In its annual study, Fortune partnered with global management consulting firm Korn Ferry to identify and rank the “World’s Most Admired Companies.”

Fortune started with 1,500 corporations from around the world—the 1,000 largest U.S. companies by revenue, as well as non-U.S. companies in Fortune’s Global 500 database with $10 billion or more in revenue—and determined the highest-revenue companies in each category for a total of 640 in 28 nations.

Then, Korn Ferry polled top executives, directors, and analysts, asking them to rate businesses in their respective industries based on nine criteria. In order to identify Fortune’s 50 “All-Stars,” Korn Ferry invited 3,740 executives, directors, and securities analysts who had answered to the industry surveys to choose the ten firms they loved the most.

The Walt Disney Company, along with its subsidiaries and affiliates, is a leading global family entertainment and media company that includes Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products; Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution; and three content groups—Studios, General Entertainment, and Sports—that develop and produce content for DTC, theatrical, and linear platforms.

Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED), which includes the Company’s international business units and various direct-to-consumer streaming services, combines technology, media distribution, and advertising sales into a single business segment to develop and offer customised entertainment experiences to customers all over the world.

Fortune magazine publishes an annual list of the Fortune 500, which ranks 500 of the largest corporations in the United States by total revenue for their fiscal years. Both publicly listed and privately held enterprises with publicly stated revenue are included on the list.

Companies whose earnings came from manufacturing, mining, or energy exploration were excluded from the initial Fortune 500.
