The filing process of the Income Tax Return (ITR) has been paused for 6 days. The official e-filing website incometax.gov.in has been scrapped off since midnight of May 31, 2021. The e-filing process will resume from June 7, 2021, a day after the brand new website is launched.
The founder of RSM India, Dr. Suresh Surana said keeping in mind the, migration and transition of the existing e-filing portal to a different platform, the government has announced a blackout period for using the existing portal from June 1 to June 6, 2021. During this time the portal won’t be available for use to taxpayers. To reduce the inconvenience of the taxpayers, the Revenue Department gave directions to resolve any hearing of cases or compliance from June 10, 2021, onwards. This will give the taxpayers time to familiarize themselves with the new system. If there is any hearing or compliance which required online submissions in this period it could be rescheduled after the said period.
He also added that the necessary compliances for remittances made by the filing of Form 15CA and Form 15CB which are also furnished via the IT portal, it is better to submit and download the forms by midnight of 31st May 2021 to avoid further inconvenience.
