Man invented his first-ever technology by striking stones against each other creating fire to warm themselves. We have progressed from mere cavemen and have evolved into higher intelligent beings. But will our inventions bring doom to ourselves by creating a super-intelligent technology called AI? Will it replace human capabilities and surpass our intelligence? The answer to these questions has been debatable for years because we are unable to anticipate or prevent potential pitfalls that may arise if machines capacitate themselves with superhuman capabilities.
The idea of inanimate objects coming to life has been around for a really long time, like the fiction of Pinocchio coming to life for his master, the innocent creation of artificial intelligence to help human beings through daily life problems can maybe serve a threat to our intelligent existence. Cybernetics founder Norbert Wiener echoed the same thought way back in 1960, “We had better be quite sure that the purpose put into the machine is the purpose which we really desire.”
Artificial Intelligence has created a revolution in almost every industrial sector. The use of never tiring machine intelligence to work endlessly and generate profit has tempted companies to replace humans with machines and intelligent objects such as computers, servers, and automated technologies. Though the intentions of these organizations are to create change and cater to customer needs, in reality, they are replacing humans and given higher post to machines. We are transforming machines from mere automated workers to intelligent decision-makers submitting ourselves to its higher capabilities and delegating responsibilities to make our lives easier.
The superpower of AI to feed new information and reciprocate it is a scientific wonder. Each data are collected and stored to make new decisions. These new data are providing sustenance to AI. They never run out space to feed these data, which later serve as memories. However the controversial part is that, is AI developing into super-intelligent beings with each data fed into it? Will AI rewrite our future?
