Wincourse acquires 85% stake in Mappr

Delhi based DCS Certification Pvt Ltd which owns and operates education technology solution firm Wincourse recently announced about its acquisition of 85% stake in social learning platform Mappr. The deal of the acquisition was for an undisclosed amount.

Wincourse was incorporated in 2011 and this company acts as an aggregator of tutors in a user’s vicinity. The main feature of this company is that it grades their tutors by taking feedback from their former and present students and fellow teachers on a regular basis. The company also claims that it has a data base of about 800,000 tutors spread across the country. It provides services in the national capital region and Bengaluru and plans to expand their services to other cities shortly.

Mappr is an Indian start-up  which was founded in 2014 by a group of IIT alumni’s who has a background in investment banking and management consulting. Later it was owned and operated by Mappr Technologies Solutions Pvt Ltd. Mappr offers a social networking platform for students, teachers and parents in which teachers can create their own discussion groups with students and their parents. The teachers can upload videos, take opinion polls from students and do many other activities through this discussion groups. Also it also allows parents to network with teachers and be aware about the status of their children. They mainly focus on the learning  process to be beyond the classrooms and thus make the students  an all-rounder by giving knowledge from every fields.

The company also plans to offer free trails of its service to schools and coaching institutes for one year and thereafter charge them on the basis of the number of students using their platform for their studies. This acquisition was based on the decision of Wincourse to make a strategic move towards developing a complete suite for giving education technology solution to its users.
