WPP Announces Appointment of Simon Dingemans to the Board

Simon Dingemans has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the WPP Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Simon is a Senior Advisor at The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG), a global investment firm specializing in healthcare and UK investment opportunities.

From 2011 until 2019, Simon was Chief Financial Officer and a member of the main board of GlaxoSmithKline plc (LSE: GSK), where he led large restructuring and reform programs that resulted in considerable financial and operational improvements. 

He was also in charge of a number of major strategic transactions. As CFO, he was in charge of Finance as well as a number of other departments, including Procurement, Real Estate, and Technology, which included Cyber Security.

Prior to joining GSK, Simon spent 25 years in investment banking, first at SG Warburg and then at Goldman Sachs, where he was Managing Director and Partner for ten years, leading their European M&A division and overseeing UK Investment Banking.

 In 2019/20, Simon served as the Financial Reporting Council’s Non-Executive Chair. He was also Chairman of the 100 Group, which reflects the views of finance directors from the FTSE 100 and a number of significant UK private companies.

WPP Chairman Roberto Quarta remarked of the appointment that they were delighted to welcome Simon to WPP, as WPP continues its transformation and strategic advancement, his knowledge from a long and illustrious career, including both operational and financial skills, would be essential to the Board.

Simon Dingemans stated on the occasion that WPP is the global leader in its area, with a clear strategy for long-term growth and value generation, and added that he was very excited to be a part of the change process and to contribute to the company’s future success.

Simon will be a member of the Audit Committee, as he joins the board.
