Xiaomi has appointed Muralikrishnan B, its chief operating officer, as president to lead the company’s India operations.
“In his new role as President of Xiaomi India, Muralikrishnan B will be responsible for day-to-day operations, services, public affairs, and strategic projects, as well as working to deepen the company’s commitment to the Make in India and Digital India initiatives,” Xiaomi stated in a statement.
Muralikrishnan has been the company’s COO since 2018. He will take his position as President of Xiaomi India on August 1.
Since Xiaomi India’s former managing director Manu Jain relocated his base to Dubai, Muralikrishan has served as the organization’s senior-most official and led the India operation.
Muralikrishan’s promotion occurs as the Enforcement Directorate(ED) looks into a possible violation of the foreign exchange law by the corporation. Muralikrishnan, an IIM-Calcutta alumnus with more than 25 years of expertise in the consumer technology sector, has played a key role in the expansion of the brand in terms of offline sales, service, and operations, among other areas.
“Under Muralikrishnan’s capable leadership, the company has experienced great development across all categories, significantly expanded its organizational capabilities, and execution machinery, and established a strong foothold in the offline retail sector. Xiaomi India will put its attention on reaffirming its dedication to the country while continuing to uphold its basic values of providing innovation to all ” According to the declaration.
Xiaomi named Alvin Tse as General Manager last month, and Manu Kumar Jain was promoted to Group Vice President for seven years in India.
Following Jain’s departure, Xiaomi India currently has Raghu Reddy as Chief Business Officer and Sameer BS Rao as Chief Financial Officer.
“They have been pretty independently leading the India business and will continue to be a significant driving force behind the brand,” the firm said in a statement.
