July 16, 2014: Xiaomi launched three new smartphones Mi3, Redmi1S and Redmi Note in the Indian market at Rs.13,999, Rs.6,999 and Rs.9,999. The Mi3 smartphone which will go on sale from July 22 and the two Redmi phones will start selling from August. The new smartphones from Xiaomi will be exclusively available through Flipkart.
Xiaomi has launched three new smartphones in the Indian market – Mi 3, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note at Rs 13,999, Rs 6,999 and Rs 9,999.
The phones will be exclusively available on ecommerce retailer Flipkart. While the Mi 3 will go on sale starting July 22, the two Redmi phones will be available in August. Speaking about the future plans of the company, Manu Jain, India operations head, Xiaomi was quoted as sayng “We are looking to provide the best in class experience to our Mi fans in India. We are starting with 35+ service centres across top 20 cities, a hotline that operates 7 days a week, and a vibrant Mi India Facebook page.” He further added that “Our partner Flipkart, with its world-class technology and customer service, will be key to providing this experience.”
The specifications of Mi 3, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note are as follows:
Xiaomi Mi3
Xiaomi Mi3 which is made of aluminium-magnesium alloy and weighs 145 gram and is 8.1mm thick has got the following features:
- 5-inch Full HD display
- 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM
- Powered by Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI skin on top.
- 16GB internal storage, but does not support storage expansion via microSD cards
- 13MP camera with dual-LED flash on the back
- 2MP camera in front
- Connectivity suite of the smartphone consists of 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and NFC.
- 3,050mAh battery with talk time of up to 21 hours on 3G networks.
- Access to Xiaomi’s Mi Cloud service
- Facility to back up apps in the cloud and
- Locate the handset online in case it is lost.
Xiaomi Redmi 1S
- 4.7-inch 720p IPS display
- Powered by a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports storage cards of up to 64GB.
- 2000mAh battery
- Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MiUi layer on top
- 8MP rear camera and
- 1.6MP front facing camera
Xiaomi Redmi Note
Xiaomi Redmi Note which was unveiled in May has the following features:
- 5.5-inch 720p IPS display
- Powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor
- 2GB RAM
- 8GB internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports storage cards of up to 32GB
- 3100mAh battery
- Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MiUi layer on top
- 13MP rear camera and
- 5MP front facing camera
Sales of Xiaomi Mi3 will commence from July 22 at 12 noon on Flipkart and interested buyers need to pre-register before July 22 on Flipkart to become eligible. Xiaomi which would be selling the smartphones through its own website and through other online retail sites will have 36 service centres in India with two exclusive Mi centres in Delhi and Bangalore.
