Aug 23, 2014: Following the massive success of the Xiaomi Mi3, the China based vendor appears to be getting ready to launch its next model in India. Well, there are speculations that the Redmi 1S, the most affordable offering launched by the company in July will be made available in the local market soon.
Confirming the same, the official Xiaomi Facebook page has posted a teaser of a smartphone and has asked the Xiaomi fans to guess the hidden product. The vendor has not forgot to mention that the handset is priced less than Rs 8,000 hinting that it could be none other than the Redmi 1S.
It has to be noted that Xiaomi partnered with e-commerce retailer Flipkart to exclusively sell its offerings in the country. And, the retailer has listed the Redmi 1S with a ‘Coming Soon’ status without revealing the details regarding its pricing or availability. Furthermore, Xiaomi has already opened the pre-registration process for the Xiaomi Redmi 1S. From these, we can infer that the smartphone could go on sale by the end of this month for Rs 6,999.
Owing to the overwhelming response among the consumers in the country, the Mi3 has been selling quickly. Lately, the handset went on sale for the fourth time on August 19 with 20,000 units in stock and this got emptied in just 2.3 seconds. If this is the response for an Rs 13,999 priced smartphone, it is sure that the Redmi 1S costing Rs 6,999 will definitely enjoy the same flash sales.
On the specifications front, the Redmi 1S comes fitted with a 4.7 inch display with a HD screen resolution of 720p and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz. There is 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage capacity that can be expanded by means of a micro SD card. To address the imaging needs, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S will arrive with an 8 MP primary snapper accompanied by a 1.3 MP front-facing selfie camera.
Once the Redmi 1S smartphone enters on sale, it will definitely be a stiff challenger to the other entry-level offerings such as Moto E and Asus Zenfone 5 that are also available in this price bracket.
