Xolo Play 8X-1000 with Hive UI Launched, Play 8X-1200 Listed

August 7, 2014: Indigenous smartphone manufacturer Xolo has launched the Hive UI based Xolo Play 8X-1000 smartphone bearing a price tag of Rs 13,999. The handset will debut on sale starting from next week and feature a slew of new features that are brought in by the new Xolo Hive UI.

Detailing on the specifications, the Xolo Play 8X-1000 is fitted with a 5 inch HD IPS display that is layered with ASAHI Dragontrail glass. The device draws energy from a 1.4 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor that is aided byMali450 graphics engine and 2 GB of RAM.

Based on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, the handset features an 8 MP Exmor R primary sensor with LED flash and FHD video recording. Also, there is a 2 MP front-facer that helps in capturing selfies and in video conferencing. There is 16 GB of internal storage space present in the device and it can be expanded further by another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card.

The Play 8X-1000 has a glass black that is protected using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for toughened exterior. In addition, there are connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS for seamless connectivity and a 1,920 mAh battery that powers the device.

The Hive UI by Xolo brings a lot of new features to the table and some of them are new themes, new music player with last.fm, Fusion X artist recommendations, new launcher, new contacts, Gallery and others.

On the other hand, the official website of Xolo has also listed a top-tier device called Play 8X-1200 that is priced at Rs 19,999. The handset’s official launch of the device is yet to happen, but it is listed to feature a 5 inch FHD IPS OGS display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Under the hood, the device houses a 2 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592T processor that is seen in many smartphones launched lately. Also, there is a 700 MHz Mali 450 GPU and 2 GB of RAM.

Imaging requirements of the users are met by a 13 MP PureCel primary snapper with dual LED flash and FHD video recording capabilities. This is paired with a 5 MP front-facer that has BSI sensor for good quality. The Xolo Play 8X-1200 packs 32 GB of native storage space that cannot be expanded as there is no micro SD card slot. Other goodies onboard are 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG and a 2,300 mAh battery.

It has to be noted that both the devices are powered by the Android 4.4 KitKat platform, but the Xolo Play 8X-1200 lacks the Hive UI that is included in the Xolo Play 8X-1000.
