Dec 5, 2012: Yahoo in a move to build products that are more meaningful has decided to discontinue several features of Yahoo Messenger. This was communicated via Yahoo Messenger Blog and Messenger Help sections of Yahoo Help. In a move which is going to raise quite a few eye brows, Yahoo has decided to discontinue public chats and Pingbox on its Messenger and Windows Live on the same day i.e. December 14. It has also decided to discontinue voice calls to landline and mobile phones from January 30, 2013.
