December 19th, 2024, India: Yokohama India Pvt. Ltd. has been awarded the 1st Prize at the prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2024 under the Tire Sector, emerging as the top performer among 18 competing tire plants. Presented by the Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, this recognition underscores Yokohama India’s innovative and cost-effective energy conservation initiatives. Through advanced automation projects, the company has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) team conducted an audit of Yokohama India’s Bahadurgarh plant. The team’s evaluation recognized the company’s consistent efforts to reduce energy consumption and drive sustainable operations at the facility.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Harinder Singh, MD & CEO of Yokohama India, said: “Bagging the top spot at the National Energy Conservation Awards 2024 is a testament to Yokohama India’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. Yokohama India achieved remarkable energy conservation milestones in 2023-24 by reducing its specific electrical energy consumption by 6.15% from base year 2023, resulting in total annual electrical savings of 1524800  KWH in 2024 and cost savings of ₹134.95 Lakh. Similarly, it achieved a 9.56% reduction in specific thermal energy consumption from base year 2023, yielding annual thermal savings of 1518730000 Kcal and cost savings of ₹74.89 Lakh.

The initiatives set a benchmark in energy efficiency for the tire industry, demonstrating significant cost savings through strategic investments in advanced technologies. Moreover, they reflect Yokohama India’s alignment with sustainability goals, reducing its environmental impact and reinforcing its commitment to energy conservation and sustainable business practices.
